Way Opinion Study February 2016

According to an Opinion Way study in February 2016, French people find that 20°C is the ideal temperature at home.
However, ADEME recommends different temperatures:
-19°C for living rooms (the Construction and Housing Code recommends the same figure),
-16°C in the bedroom for a good and restful sleep,
-17°C or 22°C in the bathroom if used.

Thus, considering a house with rooms of similar sizes and a use of the bathroom for 1 hour per day, we obtain an average recommended temperature between 18°C and 19°C. Considering this difference of one degree between the desire of the French and what is presented as a good practice, we obtain a reduction lever from 45kgCO2E to 66KgCO2E per degree of difference with the temperature recommended by ADEME (for an apartment of 100°C). m² in this case).

Regarding your electricity consumption, solutions exist: we have provided you with some best practices that have a strong impact on your carbon footprint.
-Unplug your electrical devices while on standby: according to ADEME, this practice would save nearly 10% on the electricity bill Thus, using sockets equipped with a sleep switch seems an effective and easy practice to implement at home. 🔌
-Choosing the right lighting: the lighting in a home represents between 10% and 15% of the electrical consumption of a home. The use of LED lamps is one of the most effective solutions because this type of bulb consumes up to 10 times less than conventional bulbs. 💡

🏠 With 26% of French employees who work from home regularly and 86% of them who wish to continue this practice, this is an additional challenge for managing energy consumption.
